Ray is a good Gor Gor

Ever since Ameyrius arrival, Ray has continued to be good natured, well behaved and understanding. He has not shown any jealousy at all. The only thing is that he is not used to Mey's cries. Every time she cries, he will wince and start crying too. Lucky for us, this was the initial stage and after 2 weeks of "training", he has grown accustomed to the sounds that Mei Mei makes. Now he will always want to sayang and kiss Mei Mei all the time. :P What a great boy he is!!

The arrival of Mey

My EDD for Ameyrius is 5 Jan 11, but both Seth and I were hoping for her to come out 1 Jan 11. How cool for the birthdate to be 1111! But my Gynae, Dr Pual Tseng will not be around. This is so deja vu, he will be on leave on 31 Dec 10, and we were hoping for 1 Jan baby. Coincidentally, when we had Ray, we were aiming for 25 Jun baby, and he is on leave on 24 Jun onwards. Anyway, he told us he will wait for us till 4am as he will have to be at the airport by 5am. He initially predicted Mey wil come out during the 38th week, same as Ray. I had this hunch too, but the wait continued to 31 Dec, and while we were playing Mahjong past the new year count down, our 1 Jan hope was gone too. So the wait continues and finally on 5 Jan morning, I felt some surges, and again, I can't be sure. I went about the daily routine and at 2am, I finally decided to count the interval between surges, and they are 3min apart and last 1 min. Time to go hospital!!

It was an eventful birth experience. When we reached the hospital, I was already 4cm dilated. Very soon, I was 8cm dilated, but the wait from 8cm to fully dilated was a long wait. When I'm finally fully dilated and ready to push, the midwife tell me the replacement Gynae Dr Tham is engaged in an emergency C-section and will not be able to make it. They will try to call Dr LLC. then they tell me Dr LLC also cannot make it, and will have to call Dr Eunice. Then they come and say she cannot make it and will that Dr Tham will try to make it...While waiting for the confirmation of any doctor at all, I had the urge to push real hard, and the midwife just told me to hang in there and wait till Dr Tham arrive. When he finally arrived, he just looked at me and said you are doing well, just wait for the water bag to burst. With that, he went out on his rounds. Just moments after he left, my water bag exploded. And I mean it really exploded. I literally felt like something exploded and even asked hubby what was that. The water splashed so far out that the floor of the ward was wet. So wet that the midwife actually slipped and fell on her way to get the doctor. I felt so bad and I remember repeatedly saying sorry to her.

Mey is truly a hypnobirthing baby. With the birth of Ray, I suspected if it could ever be done, breathing down your baby, but Ameyrius showed me that it is possible.  I hardly pushed, all I did was gently nudge her down and she progressed along bit by bit and when she finally came out, what a shock we got ! She is huge, 3.87kg, much bigger than me when I was born. I am so proud of us for making this birth so enjoyable!
